Hearth Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 22, 2026
1. The short version
Hearth is a habit tracker for iPhone made by Chris (“we”, “us”). Hearth has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. Everything you enter stays on your device. The only third party involved is Apple, which processes in-app purchases and delivers notifications.
2. Data stored on your device
To work, Hearth stores the following locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework:
- Your habits (name, symbol, colour, schedule, optional reminder time)
- Completion history (which habit you completed on which day)
- App preferences (theme mode, language)
This data never leaves your device. We cannot see it, and it is not synced or backed up by us. It is included in your normal iCloud or iTunes device backup, which is controlled by you and governed by Apple's privacy policy.
3. Data we do not collect
- No name, email address, or account of any kind
- No location data
- No health or fitness data (Hearth does not use HealthKit)
- No contacts, photos, or other device content
- No advertising identifiers
- No usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting SDKs
In App Store terms: Data Not Collected.
4. In-app purchases (Hearth Plus)
Hearth Plus is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). Apple handles the entire payment: we never receive your payment details, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple provides the app with a signed, anonymous transaction record so it can unlock Plus features and honour restores, renewals, refunds, and Family Sharing. Apple's handling of this data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Notifications
If you turn on a reminder for a habit, Hearth schedules a local notification on your device through iOS. No notification data is sent to us or to any server. You can revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings, or turn reminders off per habit inside the app.
6. Children
Hearth is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone. Purchases are protected by the parental controls of the Apple ID in use.
7. Your rights and deleting your data
- Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or erase on our side.
- All Hearth data can be removed at once by deleting the app from your device.
- Individual habits can be archived or permanently deleted inside the app (Settings › Archived).
- Purchase records are held by Apple and can be viewed or managed in your Apple ID settings.
If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, or California, you have statutory rights regarding personal data. Since Hearth does not process personal data on our systems, these rights are met by design; if you believe otherwise, contact us and we will help.
8. Changes to this policy
If Hearth ever adds a feature that changes how data is handled (for example optional cloud sync), we will update this page and the “last updated” date, and describe the change inside the app before it takes effect.
